The son of Alexander Van der Bellen, president of Austria, visited Georgia in 2017 and immediately fell in love with it. The business trip of Florian Van der Bellen to Georgia lasted for several days but he decided to stay longer to know more about the country. First, he arrived in Svaneti, mountainous region in the western part of Georgia. Svaneti reminded him of his home Tyrol, a ski resort in the Alps. When he came back to Austria, he could not get the beauty of Georgia out of his mind and planned to visit the country again. He had heard a lot about Georgia being liberal and free of corruption. After getting more information about the country and living there for a while, Florian realized that the preconceptions about Georgia proved right. In 2018, he established his own company in Georgia. Florian Van der Bellen thinks that despite the increased number of tourists coming to Georgia, the country still remains exotic to most Europeans. As Florian has great experience in tourism, he is enthusiastic to contribute his knowledge to the country’s development. He always tries to tell everyone about Georgia, its beauty and advantages. Florian and the president were both born in Austria but the grandfather was of Russian origin and the grandmother came from Estonia. During World War II, they had to flee to Austria because of their German second name. Now Florian hopes he can take his entire business to Georgia and to permanently settle in the country.
